Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gregory Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Damon James !
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Morris as James shoots in.
James is looking to clinch.
It looked like Morris was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from James .

James manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Morris on his heels. He'll look to pass Morris's guard now, I'm sure.

Morris uses the cage to get back to his feet.
James throws a leg kick

and Morris counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

James is looking to improve his position.

Morris seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead James has recovered full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morris decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

James shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morris as he avoids it easily.
Gregory Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damon James .
Morris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Morris's waist but Morris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
A right-left combo lands from Morris.
Damon James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James shoots in looking for a takedown but Morris manages to keep the fight standing, pushing James 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
James looks winded!
James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Morris is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Morris circles away and we're back to standing.

Morris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in James 's guard.
James is wriggling around but Morris manages to pass to half guard.

James wants to improve his position but Morris is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Morris eventually gives up the hold.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James tries to kick Morris off but Morris keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Morris decides to stand up.
Morris goes for a double leg but James avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as James continues to drive forward.
Morris lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
James tries to clinch
and Morris counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Morris misses with the combination.
James slaps away a takedown attempt from Morris, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Morris lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
James looks for a takedown but Morris sprawls well.
James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Morris gets a clinch.
Morris misses with a punch to the body.
Morris is defending well against a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


James darts in trying to clinch

and Morris counters with a takedown into side control.
James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Morris tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Morris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

James is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
James is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James prevents Morris from improving his position.
James is breathing heavily.
Morris is positioning himself well to prevent James advancing to mount.

James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Morris wants to get back to his feet.
Morris regains full guard. Nicely done.
Morris wants to stand and escape but James is having none of it.
Morris throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Morris stalks James and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into James 's face. James staggers backwards, shaken.
Morris scores with a jab to the body.

Morris shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. James manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Morris stands and steps away. James gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Morris darts in and clinches James up against the cage.
Morris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?

Morris effectively controlling the action here.
James is looking to take this one to the mat.
James prevents a takedown attempt there.
A knee to the head by Morris.
A bit of stalling here from Morris.
Morris with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Morris has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by James after a bit of a struggle.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Morris fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging James to the ground. Morris is now in James 's guard.

James has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Morris off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Morris using the Thai plumb to throw knees but James has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
James tries to score a body lock takedown but Morris shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Morris wants to control the position but James says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Morris shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Morris keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
James throws a right and a left that both miss.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Morris avoids it really well and circles away.
A counter left hand to the body from Morris misses its target.

James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Morris gets to his feet - James follows without any prompting.

James wants to get back to his feet but Morris passes into half guard.

James scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Morris manages to mount him!
