PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cameron Krauss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Singleterry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krauss kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rest in Peace. Joey Singleterry is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cameron Krauss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Singleterry!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krauss fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Krauss feints a jab promting Singleterry to slip. Krauss then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Singleterry slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Singleterry gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Krauss tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Singleterry smiles and moves away.
A low kick from Krauss is predictable there

and Singleterry counters with a single leg into guard. Krauss didn't expect that.

Krauss scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Krauss wants to clinch

and Singleterry counters with a shoot takedown. Krauss fights it but they end up in guard.
Singleterry throws a big elbow that misses.
Singleterry's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Singleterry should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Krauss will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Singleterry lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Singleterry postures up in Krauss's guard and throws a big left but Krauss blocks it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Krauss tries to clinch but Singleterry moves out of range.

Singleterry rushes Krauss and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Singleterry has hold of one of Krauss's legs. Krauss is fighting the takedown attempt but Singleterry gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Singleterry is pushing down on Krauss's leg trying to pass to half guard. Krauss is fighting to maintain full guard but Singleterry has managed to sneak the leg through.
Krauss is trying to control but can't.
Singleterry throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Singleterry tries to stand and escape but Krauss is controlling the position.

Singleterry is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Krauss is breathing heavily.
Singleterry wants to free his trapped foot but Krauss is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Singleterry looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Singleterry is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Singleterry trying to mount his opponent but Krauss defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Singleterry controlling the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Singleterry gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Singleterry tightens his grip and picks Krauss up, before dumping him to the ground. Krauss manages to land in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Singleterry counters with a takedown into side control.

Singleterry stands up and beckons Krauss to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krauss avoids the head kick by Singleterry.

Singleterry closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Krauss did well to prevent Singleterry getting side control.
Singleterry wants to pass the guard but Krauss is defending well.

Singleterry not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Singleterry takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Singleterry has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Singleterry seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Singleterry gets control of Krauss's arms and successfully pulls guard. Singleterry will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Singleterry has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Singleterry controls Krauss momentarily but Krauss frees himself.

Singleterry had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Krauss defends it easily.

Singleterry tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Krauss is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Singleterry is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Singleterry has escaped and now he's on top!

Krauss wants to get back to his feet but Singleterry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Singleterry tries to free his leg and advance position but Krauss is retaining full guard.

Singleterry pushes down on Krauss's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Joey Singleterry showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Singleterry has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Krauss clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Singleterry has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Krauss has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Singleterry lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Singleterry.

Singleterry is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Krauss is defending well though. Singleterry let's go of the attempt for now.

Krauss is trying to defend against the choke here but Singleterry has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Singleterry Tightens the hold and Krauss taps out furiously! Singleterry displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
