Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William McBride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jari Koskinen!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koskinen fails with a takedown attempt.
Koskinen shoots in looking for a takedown. McBride tries to sprawl out of it but Koskinen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McBride manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McBride lands with a nice body punch.
Koskinen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
William McBride has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jari Koskinen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBride fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Koskinen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McBride stuffs the takedown attempt from Koskinen. Koskinen gets slowly back to his feet.

Koskinen shoots in and bounces McBride off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

McBride manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Koskinen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
McBride bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Koskinen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Koskinen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
McBride connects with the punch.
McBride takes a swing at Koskinen's ribcage but misses.
Koskinen is clearly trying to counter these attacks from McBride with a body shot.
McBride dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Koskinen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McBride's guard.

McBride pushes Koskinen off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Koskinen closes the distance and clinches up with McBride, looking for a takedown. Koskinen pushes McBride against the cage but McBride circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McBride ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
McBride lands a nice looking body shot.
McBride shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Koskinen eats them both and turns towards McBride to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
McBride lands with a shot to the body.
McBride lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Koskinen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Koskinen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McBride looks like he's trying to stand up.

Koskinen is looking for a kimura here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Koskinen seems to be looking for submissions.

Koskinen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McBride sees it coming and defends easily.
Koskinen stops McBride from getting back to his feet.
Koskinen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McBride's head.

Koskinen has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can McBride defend it? Koskinen steps over the head and cranks it - McBride is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Koskinen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jari Koskinen!
After the fight, Jari Koskinen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, William McBride stepped up to the mic, saying 'My opponent got the better of me. He was the better man today. All I can do is train and try to get better. '.
