PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ted Getstoned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ted Getstoned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier Hunter !
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter keeps the fight on the outside.
Hunter looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hunter lands a nice shot that snaps Getstoned's head back.
Getstoned tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hunter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hunter lunges at Getstoned with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Getstoned's hand.
Getstoned tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hunter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Getstoned tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A cross from Hunter lands.
Getstoned on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Getstoned avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Getstoned was well out of range. Poor timing from Hunter .
Ted Getstoned seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hunter lands with a shot to the body.
Getstoned is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hunter throws out a counter right but Getstoned avoids it with no problem.

Hunter cracks Getstoned with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hunter punishes Getstoned's body with a nice straight punch.
Hunter swings for the body but Getstoned moves out of range.
Hunter digs a good body shot into Getstoned's ribs.
Hunter looks to land a combination but Getstoned avoids it well.
Hunter is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Getstoned takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Getstoned tries to clinch but Hunter moves out of range.
Getstoned takes one to the side of the head.
Getstoned tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
Hunter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Getstoned closes the distance but Hunter moves to the side
and Hunter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Getstoned tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
Hunter looks to score with a jab to the body but Getstoned is just out of range.
Getstoned wants to clinch
and Hunter counters with a series of strikes. Getstoned will be more careful next time no doubt.
Getstoned wants to clinch up but Hunter keeps it at a distance.
Getstoned tries to close the distance and clinch but Hunter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Getstoned wants to clinch but Hunter slips to the side
letting Hunter counter with a right hand.
Getstoned tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hunter paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hunter looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Hunter has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Getstoned instigates a clinch.
Getstoned is trying to pull guard but Hunter has him pressed against the cage.

Getstoned blocking some punches.
Getstoned is trying to pull guard but Hunter turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Getstoned. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Getstoned tries to pull guard but Hunter holds him up against the cage and eventually Getstoned drops back down to his feet.

Getstoned has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hunter uses from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Getstoned working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hunter has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Getstoned to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hunter is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Getstoned pulls down on the head and he's put Hunter to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ted Getstoned!
