Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between German Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deon Carruthers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Deon Carruthers!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carruthers takes the fight into the clinch.
Carruthers lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like German Giles has been cut.
Carruthers stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Carruthers connects with a nasty looking knee right to Giles's face.
Giles wants to get back to striking at distance but Carruthers won't allow it.
Carruthers misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carruthers is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Carruthers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Giles has closed the distance and engaged Carruthers in a clinch.

Carruthers is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Giles is keeping busy.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Carruthers prevents Giles from breaking the clinch.
Giles tries to score a body lock takedown but Carruthers shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Carruthers throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Giles tries a knee to the head but Carruthers blocks it.

Giles will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Carruthers up against the cage.

Giles tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Carruthers manages to circle out of the way.

Carruthers moves into range and clinches up with Giles.

Giles gets control of Carruthers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Giles will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Carruthers is looking to stand up but Giles won't let him.

Carruthers wants to stand and escape but instead Giles has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Carruthers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Giles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Giles gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Giles gets tackled into the cage by Carruthers. Carruthers maintains the clinch.

Carruthers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Carruthers moves into range and clinches up with Giles.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Giles lands a takedown into guard.
Carruthers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Carruthers is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Giles controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Giles is standing up over Carruthers. Carruthers looks to escape but Giles dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Giles gets tackled into the cage by Carruthers. Carruthers maintains the clinch.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Carruthers takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Giles doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Carruthers punishes Giles's body with a nice straight punch.

Carruthers instigates a clinch.

Carruthers tries to stall but Giles uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Giles manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Giles thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carruthers wants to stand and escape but instead Giles has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Carruthers wants to stand but Giles is controlling the position.
Giles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Giles is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Giles lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Carruthers wants to get back to his feet but Giles is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Giles stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Giles looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that German Giles will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Carruthers moves into the clinch.
Giles tries to pull guard but Carruthers holds him up against the cage and eventually Giles drops back down to his feet.
Giles jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carruthers walks away with a smile on his face. Giles gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Carruthers has managed to clinch.
Carruthers is trying to stall.

Carruthers tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Deon Carruthers seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Giles manages to pull guard.

Carruthers wants to stand and escape but instead Giles has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Giles is standing up over Carruthers. Carruthers looks to escape but Giles dives into side control.

Giles wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carruthers, who protects the arm well.

Giles stands up.

Carruthers darts in and clinches Giles up against the cage.

Carruthers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Giles wants to break the clinch but can't.

Carruthers lands a right hand that snaps the head of Giles backwards.

With the fighters up against the cage, Carruthers throws an elbow but misses.
Carruthers trying to control the position but instead, Giles has worked for underhooks and has pushed Carruthers into the cage.
Giles keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Carruthers's efforts to push away.
Giles tries to pull guard but Carruthers won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for German Giles. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carruthers is looking to break free of the clinch but Giles has double underhooks.
Giles jumps guard but Carruthers stands there with Giles around his waist. Giles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Giles wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Carruthers is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Carruthers tries a body shot but Giles blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carruthers misses with some punches.
Giles tries to break the clinch but Carruthers is controlling the position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Carruthers.

And that's the end of the fight!
Deon Carruthers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carruthers has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
