2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ogie Oglethorpe!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Maia coming out on top.
Maia moves out of range of the strikes.
Maia misses with a wild combination.
Oglethorpe moves into the clinch.
Maia lands a hook that snaps the head of Oglethorpe backwards.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Oglethorpe.
Maia scores with a shot to the side of Oglethorpe's head.
Maia lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Oglethorpe has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Oglethorpe lands a right hand that snaps the head of Maia backwards.

Maia tries a body shot but Oglethorpe blocks it.

A nice left hand lands by Maia.
Maia lands a left hand that snaps the head of Oglethorpe backwards.
A nice right hand lands inside from Maia.
Oglethorpe is rocked!
Maia creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Oglethorpe with a big uppercut! Oglethorpe tries to clinch up but Maia pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Oglethorpe to the mat! Oglethorpe covers up and Maia unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alex Maia!
Alex Maia decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
