PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tee Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pripps Blue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tee Rex had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tee Rex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pripps Blue!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blue looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Rex tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Blue defends well and Rex ends up having to push Blue into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Rex takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nice takedown defense from Blue. No joy for Rex on that attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rex or perhaps it was just good defense by Blue, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tee Rex. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rex throws a half hearted mid kick.
Rex swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Blue looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rex throws a head kick that Blue semi-blocks.
Blue swings for the body but Rex moves out of range.
Rex tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blue swivels and escapes.
Rex wants to clinch up but Blue keeps it at a distance.

Rex shoots in for a double leg but Blue sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rex avoids a punch combination nicely.

Blue gets tackled into the cage by Rex. Rex maintains the clinch.

Rex manages to break the clinch.

Blue throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Blue is trying to force a seperation but Rex has the dominant position.

Rex uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Blue.
An attempted straight right counter from Rex misses the target.
Rex looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Rex bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Blue throws Rex to one side and escapes!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A left lands for Blue.
Blue tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rex fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Blue sprawls well initially but Rex persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Blue looks winded!

Blue is looking to escape.
Rex looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Rex slows the pace down in half guard.
Rex prevents Blue from standing back up.
Rex performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rex's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Rex throwing shots but Blue is blocking nicely.
Blue really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rex. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rex throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Rex seems content to control.
Blue is trying to stand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rex rushes Blue and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Blue is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rex has Blue pressed against the cage, preventing Blue from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rex tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Blue just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rex wants a takedown but no success here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pripps Blue dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Blue throws a head kick that Rex semi-blocks.
Rex tries to score a power double leg takedown but Blue sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rex somewhat.
Rex shoots in looking for a takedown but Blue manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rex's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Blue takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Rex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blue's waist but Blue gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rex off to one side.

Rex manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

We've been informed that Blue has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Blue must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rex looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Rex looking for a guillotine here but Blue defends easily.
Rex is looking to stand up but Blue isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rex escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blue gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tee Rex will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rex looks for a takedown but Blue sprawls well.
Blue throws a counter combo.
Rex closes the distance but Blue moves to the side
and Blue counters with a stiff right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rex tries to clinch but Blue moves out of range.
Rex darts in looking for a takedown but Blue gets double underhooks and turns Rex into the cage.
Blue takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rex goes for a double leg but Blue avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Blue continues to drive forward.

Blue slaps away a takedown attempt from Rex, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Blue takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Rex moves in looking to clinch but Blue pushes him off.
Blue pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rex scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Blue throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pripps Blue seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Blue ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rex moves away.
Tee Rex is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rex dives in for a single leg takedown but Blue sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Blue lands a head kick. Rex smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Blue throws a sloppy body shot
and Rex counters with a series of strikes. Blue will be more careful next time no doubt.
Rex dives in and grabs Blue's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blue pushes down on Rex's head and hops out.
Blue misses with a double jab.
Rex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Blue's waist but Blue gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rex off to one side.

Rex drives through and clinches with Blue against the cage.
Blue looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Blue is looking to control Rex's arms but Rex gets an underhook and turns him. Now Blue has his back to the cage.
Rex tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blue smiles and moves away.
Blue lands with a nice body kick.

Blue moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Tee Rex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rex misses with a series of wild punches.
Rex is looking to clinch.
Blue takes a swing at Rex's ribcage but misses.
Blue stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Blue wants it to stay on the feet.
