PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jewell Clements (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walt Matilda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matilda lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Matilda.

It looks like Jewell Clements has been cut.
Matilda throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Clements counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Matilda feints and as Clements raises his hands in defense, Matilda changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Clements manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Matilda manages to get himself to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clements accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Clements throws an elbow that misses. Matilda uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Clements's guard. Nice move by Matilda!

This has been an exciting period of action!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Clements holds on and takes a little breather.
Clements looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clements has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Matilda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Matilda trying to control but Clements is working from the bottom.
Matilda with a flurry of punches that miss.
Clements wants to sweep here but Matilda controlling him for the moment.
Matilda is in close to Clements's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Clements is pulling down on Matilda's head. It's preventing any offense from Matilda, at least for the moment.
Clements has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Matilda is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Clements is on top in guard.

Clements thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Clements won't allow Matilda to sweep him here.
Matilda is trying to keep Clements in close.
Matilda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clements. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Clements drops back looking for a leg! Matilda is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Matilda manages to kick Clements off! Clements jumps back into Matilda's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Matilda wants to sweep but no luck.
Clements really is a fat lump.
Clements postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Matilda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clements gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Matilda tries to strike from the bottom.

Clements might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Clements drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Clements jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Matilda has momentary wrist control but Clements slips an elbow through the middle.

Clements is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Matilda is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
