The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maidana slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Maidana scores with a head kick. Gamboa tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Gamboa is rocked!

Lucas Maidana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gamboa forces Maidana back against the cage and clinches.

Gamboa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gamboa closes the distance and pushes Maidana back into the cage.

Nice combo by Maidana! Oh, that's hurt him - Gamboa falls to the canvas and Maidana follows him into side control.

It looks like Luiz Gamboa has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maidana lands a strong strike to the head of Gamboa. That's dazed him! Maidana looking to finish here. Gamboa is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Maidana lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
