PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Young Doogie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Mcnab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy Mcnab will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Young Doogie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy Mcnab!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Mcnab both land. Nice combination.
Mcnab slips a jab from Doogie.
Mcnab fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Doogie.
Mcnab tries a head kick but it misses.
Doogie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcnab swivels and escapes.
Mcnab unleashes a big counter combination but Doogie bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Mcnab tries to clinch up but Doogie circles away and keeps his distance.
Mcnab throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Doogie tries for a takedown but Mcnab sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mcnab lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mcnab.
Mcnab tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Doogie counters with a single leg into guard. Mcnab didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Doogie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Doogie connects with a couple of short punches.
Doogie has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Mcnab is looking to stand up but Doogie isn't so interested in that idea.

Doogie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Doogie is standing up over Mcnab. Mcnab looks to escape but Doogie dives into side control.

Mcnab is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Mcnab really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Doogie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Doogie lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Mcnab should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Doogie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcnab, who protects the arm well.

Doogie looks up at the clock and then as Mcnab takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Doogie smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Doogie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Doogie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Doogie cracks Mcnab with a big elbow.

Mcnab seems a little lost for a moment, as Doogie dominates the positioning.

Doogie creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
We've been informed that Mcnab has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Mcnab takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The referee asks Doogie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Doogie prefers to stall for the moment though.

Doogie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mcnab for as long as he can get away with.

Mcnab throws a sloppy head kick and Doogie moves out of range easily.

Doogie is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mcnab can do to turn this around?
Mcnab tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Doogie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Doogie throws an overhand right that lands on Mcnab's shoulder, as Mcnab tries to avoid the shot.
Mcnab throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Doogie.
Andy Mcnab seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Mcnab counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Doogie is defended easily by Mcnab.

Doogie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mcnab as he jumps to the side.
Mcnab lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Doogie backs up against the cage.

Andy Mcnab is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mcnab misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Doogie takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Mcnab shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Doogie eats them both and turns towards Mcnab to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

A head kick from Mcnab lands but Doogie takes it in his stride.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mcnab wants to clinch.
Mcnab keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mcnab throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Andy Mcnab is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Doogie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doogie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Doogie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Doogie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Andy Mcnab showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Doogie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Doogie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
