PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frederick White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zed Ace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frederick White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zed Ace!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ace throws a combination that misses

and White counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ace wants to hit a switch here but White passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ace there!

White working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
White landing shots from mount.

White working for a guillotine from mount but Ace is in no mood to give up.
White could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

White looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

White looking for a guillotine from mount but Ace is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

White working for a submission but Ace is keeping him at bay.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ace tries to hold on but White pushes him away.

White goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ace turns into him and now he's in White's guard.
White wants to stand but Ace is controlling the position.
Ace with a nice head shot there.

White keeping moving, preventing Ace from controlling successfully.
White keeping full guard, as Ace tries to pass.
White tries to land a sweep but no joy.

White pushes Ace off and scrambles back to his feet.
Ace looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Ace misses with a combination

and White holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Ace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ace connects with a body shot that sends White's belly button to the back.

Ace drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ace looking to punish the body of his opponent here but White is avoiding damage well.

Ace stands up and beckons White to his feet.

Ace dives in and scores a takedown into White's guard.
Ace looks winded!
Ace throwing strikes but missing.
White is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ace would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ace stands up and waves to White to follow him.
Ace lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
A head kick misses from White.
Ace fails to land with a series of punches.
White is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ace.
Ace throws a right hand that White ducks under and follows up with a left that White also avoids with ease.
White changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

White moves into range and clinches up with Ace.

Ace has picked White up - he's going for a ride! Ace dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

White manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ace keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frederick White will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



White gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ace lands an elbow inside.


It looks like Frederick White has been cut.

Ace pulls guard effortlessly.
White working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

White gets to his feet - Ace follows without any prompting.

Ace gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows White to score an easy takedown into full guard.
White cracks Ace with a solid left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ace is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Frederick White overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ace bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in White's guard.

White is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


White is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

White is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ace has managed to free his arm - good work.

White is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ace sees it coming and defends easily.

White is working for a kimura but Ace is defending it quite comfortably.

Ace wants to get back to full guard.
Ace wants to control but White is keeping busy and won't allow it.
White stalling.

White is trying to work for a kimura but Ace is defending well.

Ace wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.

White is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ace has managed to free his arm - good work.

White postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ace to stand up.
Ace looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
White changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
No joy there for Ace, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ace is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ace misses with a double jab

and White counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
White tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ace avoids it.

Ace breaks the clinch.
Ace scores with a jab. White acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Ace lands with a kick to the temple. White shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Ace manages to get an easy takedown there - catching White on his heels. He'll look to pass White's guard now, I'm sure.

White has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ace is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White effectively controlling the action here.

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Ace shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ace showed some decent athleticism there.
Ace not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
White gets full guard.
White is looking to stand back up but Ace counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by White.
White keeps control of the position for the meantime.

White has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ace is on him like a limpet, forcing White back against the cage.
Ace takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ace is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Ace pulls White into guard.

White gets to his feet. Ace looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and White counters with a shoot takedown. Ace fights it but they end up in guard.

White working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ace's head.

White is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ace looking to hit a scissor sweep but White is one step ahead there.
White postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
White scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
White chips away with some ground and pound.
White preventing the sweep.
White keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ace's head.
White working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ace's head.
Ace is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
White with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ace is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.

White wants to stand and escape but Ace is having none of it.
Ace tries to free his leg and advance position but White is retaining full guard.
White is pulling down on Ace's head. It's preventing any offense from Ace, at least for the moment.

White has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Ace has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
White wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Zed Ace has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Frederick White is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ace breaks from the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frederick White showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for White, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
