PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Coleman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Banks!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Banks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Banks manages to work his way to half guard, despite Coleman's best efforts.
Banks is trying to stand up here but Coleman is controlling him well.
Banks is looking for a sweep. Coleman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Banks wants to control but Coleman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Coleman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Banks for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Coleman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Banks's guard.

It looked like Coleman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Coleman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coleman has managed to get both his arms back between Banks's legs - danger averted.
