In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Stanislav Arlovsky! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Miklo Velka!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Darius Henderson.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Arlovsky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Velka pinned against the cage. Velka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Velka clinches with his opponent.

Velka has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Arlovsky clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Arlovsky wants to escape the position.

Velka is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Arlovsky defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Arlovsky tries to escape but Velka has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velka slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

What can Arlovsky do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Arlovsky rolls, trying to escape but Velka keeps control of the position.
Arlovsky breaks Velka's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Velka can't keep his opponent in guard - Arlovsky advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Arlovsky is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Velka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Arlovsky.

Arlovsky is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Velka defends it well.

Arlovsky is working for an americana but Velka has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Arlovsky was thinking about the submission.

Arlovsky has gone for a leg lock! Velka slips out almost immediately though and dives into Arlovsky's guard.

Arlovsky has an active guard here but Velka has managed to pass into half guard.

Arlovsky looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velka moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Arlovsky.

Velka gets to mount! Arlovsky was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Velka avoids the attempt from Arlovsky to control.

Velka working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Arlovsky turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Velka off and cradles Arlovsky's limp body as Velka celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Miklo Velka!
