Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brett Lester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Oconnor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Oconnor 's choice of entrance music: Hold on I'm coming . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Brett Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Craig Oconnor !
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oconnor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lester is refusing to be controlled, as Oconnor sits in half guard.
Oconnor wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Lester uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Oconnor drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lester dives on top into guard.

Oconnor has an active guard here but Lester has managed to pass into half guard.

Lester has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lester is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Oconnor manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lester keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Lester tries to break the clinch but Oconnor is controlling the position.

Oconnor manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Oconnor wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lester is now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lester connects with a nice short shot to Oconnor 's temple.
Lester is nestled in close to Oconnor , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lester looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Oconnor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lester takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lester goes for a double leg but Oconnor avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Oconnor continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brett Lester will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lester's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Lester lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lester seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Oconnor for as long as he can get away with.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lester enables Oconnor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lester manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee asks Lester politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lester prefers to stall for the moment though.

Brett Lester is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lester has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lester, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
