The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poli fails with a takedown attempt.
Sheppards stuffs the takedown attempt from Poli. Poli gets slowly back to his feet.
Poli shoots and misses
and Sheppards counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oko Poli. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Poli darts in looking for a takedown but Sheppards gets double underhooks and turns Poli into the cage.
Poli fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sheppards avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Poli is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sheppards sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Poli shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Sheppards swings for the body but Poli moves out of range.
Poli feinted with a counter takedown.

Sheppards swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sheppards throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Sheppards counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Poli takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Sheppards has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Poli shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sheppards pinned against the cage. Sheppards gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sheppards sends Poli crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sheppards is motioning to the referee to let Poli up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sheppards defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Poli.
Poli dives in and grabs Sheppards's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sheppards pushes down on Poli's head and hops out.
Sheppards looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Poli looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Poli is breathing heavily.
Poli walks into a left hand.
Sheppards scores with a jab to the jaw.
Oh Poli is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Nice takedown defense from Sheppards. No joy for Poli on that attempt.
Poli seems to have got his legs back now.
Poli circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Sheppards. Poli falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Sheppards!
