Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Floyd Patterson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastiaan Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Patterson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rutten - the referee stops the clock and Patterson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rutten. Patterson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Rutten throws a big shot that misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Patterson.
Patterson throws a sloppy head kick and Rutten moves out of range easily.
And Rutten responds with a good body kick, but Patterson manages to step out the way in time.

Patterson closes the distance and pushes Rutten back into the ropes.

Rutten lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Rutten swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A shot in the inside from Rutten.

Rutten manages to break the clinch.
Rutten attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Patterson has been working on his boxing with his coaches at House of 1000 Corpses in the buildup to the fight.
Patterson misses with a wild combination.
Rutten fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Patterson.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Patterson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rutten tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Rutten takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A head kick misses from Patterson.
Patterson tries to clinch but Rutten moves away
letting Rutten counter with a right hand.

It looks like Floyd Patterson has been cut.
Patterson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Rutten throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
It looked like Patterson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Rutten lands with a kick to the ribs.
Rutten blocks a head kick by Patterson.
Rutten follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Patterson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patterson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
letting Rutten counter with a right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Patterson gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Rutten gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Patterson is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sebastiaan Rutten!

After winning the bout, Sebastiaan Rutten thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
