PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramses Kolmas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Redfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redfield is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Believers . On his way into the cage it seems that Ramses Kolmas has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ramses Kolmas seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ramses Kolmas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Redfield!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Redfield misses the target.
Kolmas appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
A bone on bone clash there as Kolmas blocks the leg kick.
Redfield throws a body shot but no joy.
Redfield has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kolmas.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kolmas, right into the meat.
Kolmas fails with the takedown.
Redfield is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Redfield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kolmas bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

and Kolmas counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kolmas.
Kolmas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redfield swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kolmas trying to control the position from guard on top but Redfield is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kolmas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kolmas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kolmas wants to control from the top but Redfield keeps moving.

Redfield is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kolmas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kolmas is trying to control. Redfield wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kolmas looks to land a strike but Redfield avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Kolmas's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Redfield moves out of range of the body kick.
Redfield stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kolmas throws the kick towards the body but Redfield avoids it.
Redfield misses with a hook. Kolmas ducked under it nicely.
As Redfield tries to get set, Kolmas tries to push him back and clinch up but Redfield manages to avoid the attempt.
Redfield has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kolmas.

Kolmas creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Redfield's defenses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kolmas has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Redfield avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Redfield paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kolmas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Redfield.
As Redfield tries to get set, Kolmas tries to push him back and clinch up but Redfield manages to avoid the attempt.
Kolmas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Redfield defends it nicely.

Redfield throws a right and a left that Kolmas avoids nicely.

The crowd cheers as Redfield lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kolmas doesn't seem phased though.

You can see the frustration on Redfield's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ramses Kolmas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Redfield takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Kolmas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Redfield can't do much from the bottom here.

Kolmas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ramses Kolmas.
I think Kolmas has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
