The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva tries to clinch up but Pate circles away and keeps his distance.
Da Silva is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pate.
Pate shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Da Silva sprawls well. Da Silva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pate gets slowly back to his feet.
Da Silva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Da Silva scores with the left hand. Pate knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Hong Pate has been cut.

Da Silva forces Pate back against the cage and clinches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Da Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pate tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Da Silva smiles and moves away.

Da Silva feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Pate sprawling to the canvas! Pate rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Da Silva finish him?!

Pate is rocked!
Joao Da Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Da Silva lands with a good body shot.
Oh Pate is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pate is breathing heavily.

Da Silva connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Pate to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Da Silva!
