PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Robins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Micheal King!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robins tries to clinch but King moves out of range.

King closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Robins looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
King tries to stand and escape but Robins is controlling the position.
King is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
King wants to pass the guard but Robins is defending well.
Robins is trying to stand back up but King is controlling him

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Robins is looking to clinch.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Robins moves out of range easily.
King keeps the fight on the outside.
Robins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

King rushes Robins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Robins can't break the clinch.
King is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
King tries to pull guard but Robins won't allow it.

Robins tries to land a knee to the head but King blocks with his arms.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Robins looking to hit a scissor sweep but King is one step ahead there.
Robins keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
King passes Robins's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

King seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
King tries to stand but can't do so whilst Robins controls his leg.
King is tying to control. Robins wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Robins wants to get back to his feet.
King content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Robins tries to get to full guard but King has control of the leg.

Robins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

King is trying to escape back to his feet but Robins uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Robins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by King, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

King trying to control the position from guard on top but Robins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

King wants to pass the guard but Robins is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
King is pushing down on Robins's leg trying to pass to half guard. Robins is fighting to maintain full guard but King has managed to sneak the leg through.
Robins on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Robins is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with King in particular looking to stall.
Robins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.
Robins is looking for a sweep. King is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Robins manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Robins manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Robins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but King manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Robins tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Robins is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, King has escaped the position, nice work there.

Robins wants to control but King is keeping him busy.

King manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Micheal King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Robins takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


It looks like Dexter Robins has been cut.
King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Robins swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Robins throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by King.

King takes the fight into the clinch.
King wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Robins lands a nice elbow.
Robins tries to score a body lock takedown but King shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
King tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Robins smiles and moves away.
Micheal King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
King tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
King wants to control the pace but Robins is squirming around nicely.
King should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

King cracks Robins with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Robins is squirming around, avoiding King's attempts to control the action.

King is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

King scores a takedown into full mount!
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King wants to control the pace but Robins is squirming around nicely.

Robins tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and King has taken his back.

King is trying to stick to Robins's back but Robins is turning into King. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in King's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Robins.

Robins is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for King!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King tries to lock up and control but Robins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Robins throws some wild stikes that King manages to avoid easily.

Robins looking for a guillotine from mount but King is having none of it.
King is controlling an arm, preventing Robins from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Micheal King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well King has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
