The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vincent tries to close the distance and clinch but Wesley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Vincent clinches up against the cage.

Vincent drags the fight down to the ground.
Vincent is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wesley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wesley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wesley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vincent is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wesley, into his guard.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Rio inform us that Wesley has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Vincent slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vincent postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vincent makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Vincent is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Vincent knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wesley on the ground.
Vincent could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vincent chips away with some ground and pound.
Vincent trying to control the position from guard on top but Wesley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vincent might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wesley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Vincent is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wesley isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Vincent stacks Wesley on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Vincent!
Wesley looks winded!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Vincent looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vincent lands an elbow.
Wesley is trying to get back to half guard.
Vincent controls the position from side control.
Wesley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vincent wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Wesley wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Vincent has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Wesley's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Wesley is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Vincent!
