Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Olson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knock Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knock Out has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joey Olson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Knock Out!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Olson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Olson.

Olson is trying to trip Out. He has hold of a leg but Out is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Olson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Olson stands up from Out's guard - Olson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Out gets caught napping as Olson dives in and scores a takedown. Out manages to retain guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olson wants to stand but Out has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Olson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Olson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Olson stands up and waves to Out to follow him.

Out gets caught flat footed, as Olson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Out looks winded!
Olson throwing strikes but missing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Olson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Olson wants to stand but Out is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Out avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Out wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Olson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Olson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Olson lands an uppercut.

Olson gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Olson not doing much here.

Olson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Out is just riding it out for now. Olson eventually gives up the hold.
Olson passes into side control, despite Out's attempt to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Out tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olson decides to stand back up.

Olson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Out is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Olson dives into side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.


Olson stands up and beckons Out to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Olson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Out throws a left and a right that both miss
and Olson counters with a big head kick but Out shrugs it off.
Out looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

It looks like Joey Olson has been cut.

Olson manages to pull guard.
Olson wants to get back to his feet but Out is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Joey Olson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Out wants to control from the top but Olson keeps moving.
Olson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Out is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olson is trying to control the position but Out postures up.

Out missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Out stops Olson from standing up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Out throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Out takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Olson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Olson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Olson content to control rather than advance.
Out wants to control but Olson is keeping busy.

Olson controlling the pace.
Olson is nestled in close to Out, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Out wants to get back to full guard.

Out is defending against the submission attempts here by Olson.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Olson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Out wants to control but Olson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Olson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Out is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Olson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Olson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Out's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Out duly obliges.
Some bone on bone action there as Olson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Out misses with a double jab
and Olson counters with a two punch combo.
Knock Out seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Olson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Olson lands in his opponent's guard.
Out is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Out takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Olson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Olson chips away with some ground and pound.

Olson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Out's head.

Out closes the distance and clinches.
Olson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Out can do to turn this around?
Out tries to pull guard but Olson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Olson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Olson manages to end up in side control.

Olson decides to stand back up. Olson steps back and let's Out get back to his feet.

Olson clinches with his opponent.

Out is fighting off a takedown attempt but Olson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Out to the mat. Out regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Out is looking to stand back up but Olson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Olson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Olson is controlling the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Olson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Olson is looking for a kimura here.

Olson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Well Olson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
