PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Richard Anderson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clifford Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson clinches up against the cage.

Guerrero turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
You can see the frustration on Anderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Guerrero in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Anderson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Guerrero wants to clinch.

Anderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Guerrero has one foot on Anderson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Anderson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guerrero was covering up waiting for the punch and Anderson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Guerrero is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Anderson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Anderson tightens his grip and picks Guerrero up, before dumping him to the ground. Guerrero manages to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Guerrero is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Guerrero winds up and cracks Anderson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Guerrero is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Guerrero decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Anderson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Guerrero misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Guerrero rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Anderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Guerrero manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Anderson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Anderson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Anderson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Guerrero uses from the top position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Anderson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Anderson wants it to stay on the feet.

Anderson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Anderson is trying to stick to Guerrero's back but Guerrero is turning into Anderson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Anderson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Guerrero.

Guerrero really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Guerrero throws a wild body kick that Anderson sees coming a mile off.

Anderson has taken the fight to the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Anderson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Guerrero can't fight it off and eventually Anderson manages to take the fight to the floor. Guerrero looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Richard Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A close second round but Richard Anderson will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Anderson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Anderson swings around for an armbar but Guerrero sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Anderson's guard.

Guerrero gets to his feet. Anderson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Guerrero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Anderson did well to prevent Guerrero getting side control.

Guerrero moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Anderson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Guerrero on his heels. He'll look to pass Guerrero's guard now, I'm sure.

Clifford Guerrero showed his dominance in that final round.
