Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johan Falk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bird is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bodies. Kevin Bird has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johan Falk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Bird!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird tries to clinch up but Falk circles away and keeps his distance.
Bird lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Bird shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head kick lands from Falk that sends Bird to the canvas. Bird tries to scramble back to his feet but Falk brings him back down into side control.


Bird is rocked!


It looks like Kevin Bird has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Falk decides to stand back up.
Falk tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Falk looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Falk gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bird tries to clinch but Falk moves out of range.
Falk moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bird looks for a takedown but Falk sprawls well.
Bird looks gassed!

Falk gets the takedown into side control.

Falk decides to stand back up. Falk steps back and let's Bird get back to his feet.

Falk looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bird!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Falk moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bird has worked his arm free - good work by Bird!

Falk's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bird gets caught flat footed, as Falk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bird wants to get back to his feet but Falk passes into half guard.
Falk content to control rather than advance.
Falk seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bird for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Johan Falk just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Falk darts in and clinches Bird up against the cage.

Falk jumps guard.
Falk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Falk has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bird off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bird tries to clinch but Falk moves out of range.
Bird looks for a takedown but Falk sprawls well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Falk tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Falk has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bird avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Falk fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Falk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bird tries to control Falk's body but Falk pushes him off. Bird squirms to his side and now Falk has his back!

Bird controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
I would not like to be Bird right now.
Falk lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Bird hold on?!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Bird has his takedown stuffed
and Falk counters with a good low kick that Bird was not able to check.
Falk goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Falk jumps into guard, dragging Bird to the mat.

Falk pushes Bird off and scrambles back to his feet.

Falk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Falk has taken the fight to the clinch.
Falk avoids a wild elbow strike from Bird.
Bird is trying to break free.
Falk is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bird gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Falk has a takedown stuffed.

Bird is working for takedown but Falk is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bird is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Falk lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Bird takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Falk jumps into guard, dragging Bird to the mat.
Falk pulls Bird in close to prevent any damage.
Bird trying to control the position from guard on top but Falk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bird won't allow Falk to sweep him here.
Falk looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Falk throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Falk seems keen to control Bird's posture.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Falk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Falk is taking a breather. Bird says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Falk counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Well Falk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
