The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez shoots in for a double leg but Palmer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Palmer changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Good leg kick by Gonzalez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Palmer dives in and scores a takedown into Gonzalez's guard.
Gonzalez wants to get back to his feet but Palmer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Gonzalez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Gonzalez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Palmer is working away from the top position though.
Gonzalez is looking for a sweep. Palmer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Palmer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
