PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Towns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ding Xueliang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Towns scores with a nice strike.
Jab, jab by Xueliang - just one landing.
Some wild striking there from Xueliang.
Xueliang scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
A nice combination there by Towns.

Xueliang walks into a straight right hand from Towns.

Towns definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Xueliang wants to counter with a clinch but Towns pushes him away.

It looks like Ding Xueliang has been cut.

Towns blocks an elbow strike.
Xueliang gets through Towns's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Xueliang jumps guard but Towns turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Xueliang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Xueliang manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Towns has his foot on Xueliang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Xueliang works his way back into a safe position though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Xueliang wants to control from the top but Towns keeps moving.
Xueliang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Towns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Towns wants to stand but Xueliang is controlling the position.
Towns looking to hit a scissor sweep but Xueliang is one step ahead there.
Xueliang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Towns is keeping the position for now.

Towns has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Xueliang can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Xueliang got a little sloppy there for a moment and Towns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Xueliang has managed to get both his arms back between Towns's legs - danger averted.

Xueliang slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Towns will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Towns bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xueliang's guard.

Xueliang is pulling down on Towns's head. It's preventing any offense from Towns, at least for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Towns trying to stand up but can't free himself from Xueliang's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xueliang throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Towns seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Towns tries to stand but Xueliang is controlling from the bottom.

Towns thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bradley Towns will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ding Xueliang's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Towns tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Xueliang was well out of range. Poor timing from Towns.
Xueliang with the counter takedown but Towns avoids it easily.

Towns tries to sprawl but Xueliang drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Towns manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Towns lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Xueliang circles away quickly and effectively.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
You can see the frustration on Towns's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Towns tries to improve position but can't.
Towns is not content to let Xueliang control the position.
Towns wants to control but Xueliang postures up.

Towns holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Xueliang controls the position.
Towns manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Towns decides to stand up.
Towns throws a lazy right hand but Xueliang sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bradley Towns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Towns lands a really nice looking cross but Xueliang seems unphased.
Towns throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Xueliang.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Towns is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Xueliang is aware though and is defending well.

Xueliang is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Towns has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Xueliang is looking to defend but Towns has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Xueliang! Towns pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Xueliang taps out and this one is all over!
