Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Deshawn Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ogbebor Owen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deshawn Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ogbebor Owen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen dives in and grabs Shaw's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes down on Owen's head and hops out.
Owen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shaw but Shaw pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Shaw throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Owen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shaw is in Owen's guard.

Owen scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Owen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shaw changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shaw fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Shaw clinches up against the cage.

Owen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Owen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Shaw counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Deshawn Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ogbebor Owen.

Owen keeping moving, preventing Shaw from controlling successfully.
Shaw passes into half guard.
Shaw missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shaw connects with a nice short shot to Owen's temple.

Shaw seems to be looking for submissions.
Shaw slows the pace down in half guard.

Shaw stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Owen has Shaw up against the cage in a clinch.

Shaw manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Shaw is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Owen is controlling him.
Shaw trying to keep a closed guard but Owen is proving a slippery customer.
Owen wants to control from the top but Shaw keeps moving.

Shaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Owen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shaw bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Owen's guard.


Shaw decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Owen, up you get!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Owen.
Shaw thinks about countering with a head kick.

Owen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Owen lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Shaw manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Shaw is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Owen jumps guard but Shaw stands there with Owen around his waist. Owen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Owen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shaw gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shaw tries to pull guard but Owen holds him up against the cage and eventually Shaw drops back down to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Owen has his takedown stuffed
and Shaw counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Owen avoids the head kick by Shaw.
As Shaw backs off Owen throws a huge counter combo but Shaw manages to avoid it all.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shaw is defended easily by Owen.
Owen tries to counter by closing the distance.
Owen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaw as he avoids it easily.
Shaw shoots in for a takedown but Owen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Owen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Owen lands a head kick!

Shaw on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Owen. Owen obviously looking to wear him down.

Shaw moves into the clinch.
Owen is trying to drag Shaw to the mat but Shaw just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Deshawn Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ogbebor Owen.
Owen is breathing heavily.

Shaw manages to pull guard.
Owen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shaw lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Shaw is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Owen wants to sweep but no luck.
Shaw is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Owen can do to turn this around?

Shaw slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Owen wants to control but Shaw postures up.

Shaw has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Owen tries to clinch but Shaw is having none of it.
Shaw drops down looking for a counter takedown but Owen sprawls and moves away.

Shaw shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shaw was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Owen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Shaw performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Owen tries to roll over but Shaw keeps him under control.
Owen is trying to maintain the position but Shaw is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Shaw has taken the fight to the clinch.
Shaw drops down looking for an ankle pick but Owen pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shaw lands with a shot to the body.

Shaw fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Owen to the ground. Shaw is now in Owen's guard.
Shaw is standing up over Owen. Owen looks to escape but Shaw dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Owen tries to buck Shaw off but Shaw is having none of it.

Owen is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Shaw is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Owen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shaw. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Owen is looking to improve his position but Shaw isn't that keen on the idea.
Owen tries to lock up and control but Shaw gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shaw trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Owen working to try and regain half guard.
Shaw with shots to the head and body - Owen looks very uncomfortable down there.
Shaw has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Owen's face.
Shaw sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Owen throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shaw. What's that going to do exactly?

Shaw working for a submission but Owen is keeping him at bay.
Owen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Owen somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Deshawn Shaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Owen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shaw!

Shaw sneaks out the side door and pushes Owen away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shaw wants to clinch up but Owen keeps it at a distance.

Shaw fails with a takedown attempt.
Owen tries to counter by closing the distance.
Owen slaps away a takedown attempt from Shaw, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deshawn Shaw. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Owen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Shaw's head.
Shaw throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Owen moves into range and clinches up with Shaw.
Shaw gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Owen.
Ogbebor Owen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Deshawn Shaw is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Owen wants a takedown.
