I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mickey Darmody was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darmody tries to bum rush Batista with a series of wild strikes but Batista uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Darmody lands a slapping body shot.
Batista rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Darmody moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A punch lands to the side of Batista 's head but he takes it in his stride.

It looks like David Batista has been cut.
Batista ducks under a wild hook from Darmody.
Darmody misses with a head kick.
Batista half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Batista looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Darmody!
Batista looks up at the clock and then as Darmody takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Batista smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Batista has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Darmody is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Batista yanks on the arm and Darmody is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Batista.
