PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chase Rowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anteros Kakos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kakos has chosen You ain't stoppin me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chase Rowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anteros Kakos!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakos doesn't manage to clinch there - Rowe circles away.
Rowe feinted with a counter takedown.
Kakos fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rowe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kakos but Kakos pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rowe dives in and grabs Kakos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kakos pushes down on Rowe's head and hops out.
Kakos wants to clinch.
A quick step to the side and Rowe tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kakos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rowe blocks an uppercut.
Rowe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kakos pulls Rowe into guard.

Rowe distracts Kakos with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kakos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rowe puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rowe is looking to take a break and control but Kakos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kakos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rowe is thwarting Kakos's attempts to control the position.
Rowe keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rowe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kakos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kakos is holding on to half guard well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kakos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rowe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rowe's back!
Rowe covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Kakos thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Kakos goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Rowe escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Kakos is looking to get back to full guard here but Rowe has managed to pass to side control instead.

Kakos is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rowe is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Kakos tries to reverse the position but Rowe maintains control.
Kakos keeps trying to improve his position.
Kakos wants to hold on but Rowe pushes him away.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

That was a close round but I would say that Chase Rowe will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kakos throws a body shot but no joy.
Rowe is looking to counter punch.
Kakos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kakos drives through and clinches with Rowe against the cage.
Kakos prevents the takedown attempt.
Rowe managing to block the knees to the body from Kakos.

Kakos pulls guard successfully.
Kakos will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rowe wants to stand but Kakos has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Chase Rowe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rowe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Rowe tries to stand but can't do so whilst Kakos controls his leg.
Rowe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kakos is staying active underneath Rowe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kakos can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kakos tries to roll over but Rowe keeps him under control.
Kakos trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Kakos is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rowe trying to control but Kakos is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kakos is looking to get to half guard.

Rowe throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Kakos is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Rowe lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Kakos is desperately trying to improve his position but Rowe has a good base and remains in mount.
Kakos tries to hold on but Rowe postures up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rowe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kakos is looking to escape.
Kakos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kakos is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kakos wants to hold on but Rowe pushes him away.

Kakos in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Kakos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase Rowe dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Rowe throws a head kick that misses.
Kakos misses with a head kick.
It looked like Rowe was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Kakos throws a sloppy head kick and Rowe moves out of range easily.
Kakos moves in looking to clinch but Rowe pushes him off.
An attempted straight right counter from Rowe misses the target.

Kakos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kakos stalling away here and it's allowed Rowe to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rowe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rowe working over Kakos with some ground and pound. Kakos looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kakos tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rowe has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Rowe is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kakos to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kakos shrugs it off.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kakos tries to lock up and control but Rowe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rowe looking to control but Kakos is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kakos wants to control but Rowe is having none of it.
Kakos is looking to get to half guard.

Chase Rowe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kakos swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Chase Rowe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rowe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
