PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Galvao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel comes to the cage accompanied by The Flame war. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Galvao!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvao tries to clinch there but Daniel circles away.
Galvao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Daniel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Galvao tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Daniel swivels and escapes.
Galvao will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jack Daniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Galvao.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Galvao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Daniel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Galvao is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Daniel is trying to control but can't.

Galvao is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Galvao wants to control but Daniel is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Galvao has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Galvao tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Galvao is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Daniel manages to capitalize on a mistake by Galvao to take his back!

Galvao should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Daniel has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Galvao is breathing heavily.
Daniel doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Galvao counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Galvao.
Galvao wants to pass the guard but Daniel is keeping the position.
Daniel keeping moving, preventing Galvao from controlling successfully.
Galvao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Galvao tries to free his leg and advance position but Daniel is retaining full guard.
Daniel pulls Galvao in close to prevent any damage.
Daniel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Galvao drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Daniel dives on top into guard.
Galvao wants to hit a switch here but Daniel passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Galvao there!
Galvao reaches up to try and control the position but Daniel seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Galvao rolls and tries to escape and now Daniel has his back!

Galvao is in all sorts of trouble here.

Galvao tries to lock up and control but Daniel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Galvao regains half guard.
Galvao is trying to get back to full guard.
Galvao wants to get back to his feet.
Galvao makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Galvao.
Galvao not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Galvao is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Daniel trying to control the position from guard on top but Galvao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Daniel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Galvao looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Daniel passes into side control.
Galvao is trying to get back to half guard.
Galvao is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Galvao looking for a sweep but Daniel has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Galvao regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Andre Galvao will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Galvao looks to land a combination but Daniel avoids it well.

Daniel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Galvao's guard.

Galvao has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Daniel is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Galvao.
Galvao is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Daniel off and has taken his back!

Galvao is looking for a rear naked choke here but Daniel reverses the position brilliantly into Galvao's guard!

Galvao has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Daniel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
What can Galvao do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Daniel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
