Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eikmeyer has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Eikmeyer.
Eikmeyer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smith pulls him back up using the underhooks.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Smith has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Eikmeyer tries for a takedown but Smith manages to get underhooks.

Eikmeyer is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Smith is working for a submission of some sort.

Eikmeyer actively working from the bottom here.
Eikmeyer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Eikmeyer.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Eikmeyer is keeping the position.

Eikmeyer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Smith uses it to pass to side control.
Eikmeyer is looking to reverse the position.
Eikmeyer looking for a sweep but Smith has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Eikmeyer has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Eikmeyer is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea.
Eikmeyer is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Eikmeyer sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Eikmeyer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chad Smith dominated that round.
That's time! Eikmeyer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Left hook, right uppercut from Smith.
Eikmeyer wants to clinch.
Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Eikmeyer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Eikmeyer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Smith kicks Eikmeyer off and gets back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Smith as Eikmeyer shoots in.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Smith drives through and clinches with Eikmeyer against the cage.
Eikmeyer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Eikmeyer takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Smith and Eikmeyer goes tumbling to the canvas! Smith follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


Eikmeyer is rocked!


It looks like Mario Eikmeyer has been cut.
Smith scores with a big shot! Eikmeyer's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Eikmeyer! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chad Smith!
