Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Spinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodieleo Pefant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pefant has chosen Eye Of The Storm - Bullet For My Valentine as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spinner has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pefant is trying to break the clinch but Spinner has him pressed against the cage.
Spinner fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Pefant stops a takedown attempt from Spinner.

Spinner has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pefant regains guard immediately.

Spinner drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pefant looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pefant looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pefant!
Spinner is trying to control Pefant's posture but Pefant avoids it.
Spinner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pefant is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spinner throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Spinner wants to control but Pefant postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pefant stands up and beckons Spinner to his feet.

Spinner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pefant, pushing him back against the cage.
Pefant tries to break the clinch but Spinner is controlling the position.

Spinner has Pefant pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Spinner pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pefant tumbling to the mat - Spinner dives into Pefant's guard.
Spinner chips away with some ground and pound.

Spinner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Spinner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Spinner thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Spinner won't allow Pefant to sweep him here.
Pefant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spinner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Spinner drops back looking for a leg! Pefant is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pefant manages to kick Spinner off! Spinner jumps back into Pefant's guard.

Pefant is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pefant throws a sloppy head kick and Spinner moves out of range easily.
Spinner throws a right hand that Pefant ducks under and follows up with a left that Pefant also avoids with ease.
Pefant misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Spinner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Spinner.

Spinner breaks the clinch.

Spinner clinches.
Spinner fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Spinner. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pefant escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Spinner moves into range and clinches up with Pefant.

Spinner drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pefant wants to break the clinch but can't.

Spinner is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pefant can't fight it off and eventually Spinner manages to take the fight to the floor. Pefant looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Spinner turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Spinner manages to end up in side control.
