Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Quik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomez has chosen Bad Motherfucker as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Quik got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Quik has managed to get both his arms back between Gomez's legs - danger averted.

Quik has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Quik seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Quik seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gomez for as long as he can get away with.

Gomez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Quik tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gomez is in Quik's guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Quik's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
