Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ape Rezzkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony Pettis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ape Rezzkey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis digs a good body shot into Rezzkey's ribs.
Rezzkey's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pettis connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rezzkey scrambles back to his feet.

Rezzkey takes the fight into the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Pettis.
Pettis prevents the takedown attempt.
Rezzkey blocks an uppercut.
Pettis scores with a shoulder strike.
Still in the clinch, Pettis scores with a nice short uppercut.
A frustrated look appears on Rezzkey's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Rezzkey wants to break free but Pettis has control.
Rezzkey is pushing Pettis up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettis doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Rezzkey jumps guard but Pettis stands there with Rezzkey around his waist. Rezzkey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Pettis.

Rezzkey gets control of Pettis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rezzkey will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Rezzkey on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rezzkey tries to get out of the position.

Rezzkey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pettis defends well.
Rezzkey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pettis's guard.

Rezzkey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rezzkey pushes down on Pettis's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Pettis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rezzkey scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rezzkey lands a couple of good shots and Pettis has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Rezzkey is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Pettis has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Rezzkey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rezzkey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pettis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pettis wants to counter with a clinch but Rezzkey pushes him away.
Rezzkey is looking to clinch but Pettis is avoiding it.
We've been informed that Pettis has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Rezzkey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pettis sprawls well initially but Rezzkey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Rezzkey wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pettis has him pressed against the cage.

Pettis is breathing heavily.

Rezzkey's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Rezzkey changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pettis fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rezzkey gets to his feet. Pettis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Pettis swings wildly with an uppercut but Rezzkey uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pettis misses with the head strike.
Pettis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rezzkey's elbow.
Pettis lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Pettis is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ape Rezzkey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rezzkey jumps guard but Pettis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Rezzkey wants to break free but Pettis has control.

Pettis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rezzkey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rezzkey is on top in guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Rezzkey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rezzkey is taking a breather. Pettis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Rezzkey is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pettis knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pettis for a finish.

Pettis is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rezzkey gets his way!
What can Pettis do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Rezzkey is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pettis is defending well though. Rezzkey let's go of the attempt for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rezzkey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
