Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hong Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hong Pate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Bean!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bean is looking to break free of the clinch but Pate has double underhooks.

Bean breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bean looking to land some kicks to the body here.
As Bean backs away, Pate returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Bean fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pate sprawls well initially but Bean persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pate is concentrating on defense, preventing Bean from advancing position.
Bean takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pate wants to get back to full guard.
Pate holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Pate pushes Bean off looking to stand but Bean dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bean wants to stand but Pate has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pate is concentrating on defense, preventing Bean from advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bean throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pate wants to get back to his feet.
Pate keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Pate is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pate has managed to clinch.
Bean stalling in the clinch but Pate improves position.
Bean is looking to break free of the clinch but Pate has double underhooks.

Bean manages to break the clinch.
Bean throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Hong Pate has been cut.
Bean with a nice cross.
Pate walks into a left hand.
Jim Bean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Bean.

Bean lands a head kick!


Pate is rocked!
Pate misses with a head kick.

Bean shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pate is trying to defend but Bean finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pate is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pate moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bean wants to stand and escape but instead Pate has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pate postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bean is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pate's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Pate prevents Bean from getting back to his feet.
Bean looks winded!

Pate gets to his feet - Bean follows without any prompting.
Bean throws a body punch but Pate moves out of range.
Bean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bean swings for the body but Pate moves out of range.
Bean jabs Pate right on the nose. Pate blinks but takes it well.
Pate avoids the head kick by Bean.
Pate is looking to counter with head kicks.
Pate moves out of range of the strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pate closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bean quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pate tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bean controls his leg.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pate lands a nice short elbow.
Bean is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nice strikes from Pate there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pate connects with a nice short shot to Bean's temple.
Pate lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pate lands strikes from half guard.

Pate stands up and beckons Bean to join him on the feet.
Pate tries to work over Bean's front leg with a kick but Bean checks it.
Pate throws a leg kick but Bean checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Bean will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Hong Pate's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bean takes a swing at Pate's ribcage but misses.
Pate tried to counter with a leg kick but Bean avoided it.

Pate gets a double leg takedown into Bean's guard.
Bean pulls Pate in close to prevent any damage.
Pate tries to stand but Bean is controlling from the bottom.
Pate scoring with punches to the head and body.

Bean manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Bean swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Pate feints and as Bean raises his hands in defense, Pate changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pate chips away with some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bean has momentary wrist control but Pate slips an elbow through the middle.
Bean trying to keep a closed guard but Pate is proving a slippery customer.
Pate prevents Bean from getting back to his feet.
Bean is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pate is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pate scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Pate has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bean is proving hard to escape from.

Pate decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Pate fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bean to the ground. Pate is now in Bean's guard.
Pate postures up and lands a big shot to Bean's brow.
Pate is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Pate is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pate cracks Bean with a solid left hand.
Hong Pate overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pate scoring with some ground and pound.
Pate lands a couple of digs.

Pate stands and steps away. Bean gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A punch lands to the side of Bean 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Pate misses with a head kick.
Pate throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Pate avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bean gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pate gets to his feet - Bean follows without any prompting.

Pate takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pate goes for a takedown attempt but Bean pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jim Bean seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Bean misses with a body shot.
Pate fires out a quick counter leg kick but Bean just manages to avoid it.
Bean throws a sloppy head kick

and Pate counters by moving into the clinch.

Pate wants the takedown. Bean is fighting it off but Pate persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bean's guard against the cage.
Pate working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bean's head.

Pate gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Pate closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pate lands in his opponent's guard.

Pate stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Bean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pate manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
An attempted straight right counter from Pate misses the target.
Bean throws a jab when Pate was well out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pate clobbers Bean with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Pate is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bean can do to turn this around?
Bean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pate manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Pate scores with a takedown into Bean's guard.
Pate landing some decent shots from guard.

Pate stands up from Bean's guard - Pate perhaps looking for a knockout.

Bean shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Pate has one foot on Bean's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hong Pate dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Hong Pate's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Pate tries a head kick but it misses.
Bean is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Bean shoots in and bounces Pate off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bean looking to sit in guard and control but Pate gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pate wants to stand and escape but instead Bean has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Pate is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Bean wants to control from the top but Pate keeps moving.
Pate pulls Bean in close to his closed guard and prevents Bean from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bean takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bean trying to control but Pate is working from the bottom.
Bean stops Pate from standing up.
Bean must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pate seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Pate wants to stand and escape but Bean is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bean would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pate had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bean defends it easily.
Bean trying to control but Pate is working from the bottom.
Pate is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bean throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jim Bean is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bean throws a one two combo.

Bean shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Pate keeping control of the position.
Pate has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Bean prevents Pate from improving his position.

Bean seems to be working for a kimura but Pate defends the submission attempt.
Pate controlling the position for now.
Pate pushes Bean off looking to stand but Bean dives back in and keeps control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pate has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pate desperately trying to maintain half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bean lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Bean comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bean has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
