PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Williams Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Black Hand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harper forces Hand back against the cage and clinches.
Harper digs a right hand underneath Hand's ribcage. Hand let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Hand wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Harper tries a body shot but Hand blocks it.

Hand drags the fight down to the ground.
Hand is pulling down on Harper's head. It's preventing any offense from Harper, at least for the moment.
Hand throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harper throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harper lands a couple of elbows.
Hand avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Harper throws a big elbow that misses.

Harper prevents Hand from getting back to his feet.
Hand looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Harper puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Hand flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Hand pushes Harper off looking to stand but Harper dives back in and keeps control.

Harper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hand with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hand is trying to stand.

Harper is trying to work for a kimura but Hand is defending well.
Harper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Harper is working for a submission of some sort.
Harper takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Harper lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Harper stops Hand from getting back to his feet.
Hand looks winded!

Harper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Harper scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Harper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hand doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harper.
Hand tries to kick Harper off but Harper keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A punch combination from Hand misses.
The fighters circling - Harper throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hand drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Harper defends it well.

Harper drives through and clinches with Hand against the cage.
Harper misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hand can't break the clinch.
Hand tries to circle away but Harper has him pinned against the cage.
Harper lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Harper keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hand's efforts to push away.

Hand wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Harper has him pressed against the cage.
Harper misses with a punch to the body.
Hand is trying to break the clinch but Harper is controlling him.
Hand looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Harper lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hand backwards.

Hand has picked Harper up - he's going for a ride! Hand dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Harper manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Harper darts in and clinches Hand up against the cage.

Hand wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Harper.

Hand is trying to break free.

Hand breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hand is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hand closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Harper quickly recovers to half guard.
Hand stops Harper from getting back to his feet.
Harper scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hand manages to mount him!
Harper is looking to improve his position but Hand isn't that keen on the idea.
Harper is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Hand misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harper is trying to stand.
Harper sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hand tries to stand and escape but Harper is controlling the position.
Harper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Harper is pressing down on Hand's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hand prevents Harper from getting back to his feet.
Harper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Harper scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Harper lands with a kick to the ribs.
Black Hand is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Harper tries a head kick but it misses.
Good exchange - Harper coming out on top.
Hand stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Harper.

Harper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hand is looking to get back to his feet here but Harper is keeping cool and he's managed to take Hand's back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hand is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Harper is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Hand won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Harper off his unconscious opponent!
