PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Bannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordus Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clay has chosen SCOTLAND THE BRAVE !!! as his entrance music. Gordus Clay told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay shoots in but Bannon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bannon tests Clay's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Clay misses with an uppercut. Bannon saw that one coming.
The fighters circling - Bannon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Clay looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Bannon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bannon moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bannon steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Clay.

Bannon catches Clay with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Bannon throws a poor cross that misses
and Clay counters with a left to the body.

Bannon misses with a leg kick.
Clay is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Bannon with a body shot.
Clay scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Clay bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Bannon - that will leave a mark!
Bannon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Clay on the side of the head.

A solid leg kick lands there for Bannon.
Clay stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bannon.

Clay shoots in and gets a takedown into Bannon's guard.
Bannon is pulling down on Clay's head to control his posture.
Clay is looking to work some ground and pound but Bannon has wrist control.
Bannon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bannon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Clay wants to control from the top but Bannon keeps moving.

Clay is looking to work some ground and pound but Bannon has wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bannon throws the kick towards the body but Clay avoids it.
Bannon throws a body shot but no joy.
Clay swings for the body but Bannon moves out of range.
Bannon misses with a hook.
Bannon tries to land a leg kick but Clay saw it coming and moves away.

Bannon is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Bannon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Clay counters with a nice uppercut.
A swing and a miss from Clay.
Clay lands with a nice body punch.
Clay sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Bannon misses with a jab, cross combination.
Clay sizes up Bannon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bannon connects with a crisp jab.
Clay avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bannon misses with a looping right.
Clay is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Bannon with a body shot.
Bannon lands a right hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Bannon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Clay gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Bannon.

Bannon is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Clay.
Clay walks into a left hand.
Clay ducks under a wild hook from Bannon.
Nice uppercut there from Clay.
Bannon thows a body kick. Clay tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Bannon takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Clay throws the left hand but Bannon avoids the punch easily.

and Bannon scores with a counter punch that sends Clay to the canvas! Bannon smells blood - he's punishing Clay with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Clay has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
