PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renato Laranja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Serenade. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renato Laranja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses with a wild body shot.
Diaz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Laranja lands a left and a right that send Diaz crashing to the mat, dazed. Laranja thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Diaz is rocked!

It looks like Pedro Diaz has been cut.
Diaz darts in looking for a takedown but Laranja gets double underhooks and turns Diaz into the ropes.
Diaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Laranja finish him?
Diaz tries to clinch there but Laranja circles away.
Laranja appears to be looking for a big counter.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Diaz wants to clinch up but Laranja keeps it at a distance.

Laranja closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Laranja tries to pull guard but Diaz holds him up against the ropes and eventually Laranja drops back down to his feet.
Diaz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Renato Laranja has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedro Diaz.
Laranja goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diaz fails to pull guard.
Diaz seems to have recovered his senses.
Laranja takes an elbow to the temple.

Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Diaz clinches with his opponent.
Diaz keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Laranja's efforts to push away.

Laranja misses with a punch to the body.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Laranja enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Laranja manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Laranja is on top in guard.

Laranja chips away with some ground and pound.
Diaz looks winded!
Laranja trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Laranja is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Laranja drops back looking for a leg! Diaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diaz manages to kick Laranja off! Laranja jumps back into Diaz's guard.

Laranja throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Laranja accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Diaz keeping moving, preventing Laranja from controlling successfully.
Laranja stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Laranja throws an elbow but Diaz slips to the side and avoids it well.
Laranja is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Laranja is putting a hurting on Diaz here, landing some big shots from side control.
Diaz takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Diaz is looking for a sweep.

Laranja has hold of Diaz's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Diaz tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Laranja cranks the arm and Diaz screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Diaz, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
