Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Norbert Rojas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tyson Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rojas was covering up waiting for the punch and Jackson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rojas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.


Jackson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rojas is aware though and is defending well.

Jackson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Rojas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jackson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rojas off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Jackson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rojas quickly recovers to half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rojas fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jackson to the ground. Rojas is now in Jackson's guard.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rojas is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount!

Jackson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rojas has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jackson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rojas holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jackson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rojas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jackson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jackson.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jackson is taking a breather. Rojas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Rojas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Well, if Jackson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rojas tries to roll over but Jackson keeps him under control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Rojas clinches.
Jackson scores a nice knee to the body.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A big right from Rojas misses.
And Jackson tries to counter it with a takedown but Rojas pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Rojas is trying desperately to improve position.
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Jackson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Jackson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Jackson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rojas tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jackson throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Jackson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The adventures of Jackson the control monster continue. Boring.

Tyson Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Tyson Jackson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
