Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coty Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Coty Hall!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz closes the distance but Hall moves to the side

and Hall counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Hall is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Hall advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Diaz pushes Hall off but Hall dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to buck Hall off but Hall is having none of it.
Diaz stops Hall from passing to mount.

Hall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Diaz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hall wants to stand but Diaz has his arm trapped.

The referee asks Hall politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hall prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hall working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hall thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hall takes a little break here. Diaz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Hall wants to stand but Diaz has his arm trapped.

Diaz tries to buck Hall off but Hall is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hall works to advance to full mount. Diaz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Diaz is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hall tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Diaz gives up his back whilst trying to strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hall pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hall but Hall pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Hall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hall is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Diaz manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hall keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Hall has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hall breaks the clinch.

Hall rushes Diaz and presses him up against the cage.
Diaz pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Hall breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hall doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Diaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nate Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hall can't break the clinch.
Hall stalls.

Hall drags the fight down to the ground.
Diaz landing with the ground and pound.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hall looking for a sweep. Not yet Hall, not yet.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
Hall will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hall is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Hall circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hall wants to clinch.
As Hall looks to move away, Diaz throws a big counter combo but Hall just gets out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Coty Hall will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Diaz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hall quickly recovers to half guard.
Hall is trying to stand up here but Diaz is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hall is looking for a sweep. Diaz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Diaz is just content to waste time from the top position. Hall takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Hall seems keen to control Diaz's posture.
Diaz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Diaz wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.

Hall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.

Hall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Diaz manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hall has Diaz in his guard.

Diaz wants to pass the guard but Hall is keeping the position.

Hall is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hall is pulling down on Diaz's head. It's preventing any offense from Diaz, at least for the moment.
Diaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hall is keeping the position for now.
Hall wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Diaz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diaz dodges the punch combination from Hall.
Diaz throws a big counter combination but Hall scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hall tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hall to the ground. Hall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hall. Diaz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Diaz lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Diaz tries for a takedown but Hall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hall manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.

Nate Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Coty Hall is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hall avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Coty Hall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
