PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alvaro Hendrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eka Jagur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alvaro Hendrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eka Jagur !
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jagur throws a sloppy head kick and Hendrix moves out of range easily.
Jagur dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hendrix. That did some damage!

Hendrix instigates a clinch.
Hendrix fails to pull guard.

Hendrix has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jagur uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hendrix has his foot on Jagur 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jagur works his way back into a safe position though.
Jagur slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hendrix will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jagur seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hendrix has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jagur is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hendrix.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Hendrix's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jagur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hendrix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jagur is looking to take a break and control but Hendrix is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hendrix is trying to get back to half guard.
Hendrix takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hendrix manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The fighters are battling for position here. Jagur manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hendrix drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jagur dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hendrix working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jagur doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jagur manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jagur is fighting to break Hendrix's control of his arms but Hendrix is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Alvaro Hendrix will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jagur has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hendrix is proving hard to escape from.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hendrix has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Jagur escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Jagur !
Hendrix tries to improve position but can't.
Jagur cracks Hendrix with a big right hand but Hendrix just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hendrix gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jagur connects with a nice short shot to Hendrix's temple.

Jagur is looking for a kimura but Hendrix is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jagur to get the leverage.

Hendrix really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hendrix enables Jagur to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hendrix manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jagur looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hendrix has picked Jagur up and slammed him! Jagur can't keep hold of the triangle and Hendrix manages to pass to side control!

Hendrix goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jagur rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hendrix's guard! Nice work there by Jagur !

Jagur takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hendrix is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hendrix has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jagur can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hendrix is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jagur is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Hendrix is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jagur is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Jagur is looking to work his way around to Hendrix's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Jagur seems to be looking for submissions.
Hendrix has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jagur is working away from the top position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Eka Jagur .
I think Jagur has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
