Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Octavio Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
18 - 61 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Anzhor Azhiev!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Azhiev gets caught flat footed, as Ramos shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ramos working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Azhiev looking for a guillotine here but Ramos defends easily.
Ramos showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Ramos advances to half guard.
Azhiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ramos pulls his head out easily.
Ramos decides to stand and escape the position.
Azhiev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramos is fending him off so far but Azhiev persists. Nope, Ramos circles away and we're back to standing.
Azhiev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ramos counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Azhiev thinking.
Octavio Ramos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anzhor Azhiev.
Ramos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Azhiev.

Azhiev shoots for a takedown but Ramos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ramos wants to control from the top but Azhiev keeps moving.
Ramos decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Azhiev, up you get!
Azhiev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ramos as he jumps to the side.
Ramos swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Azhiev.

Ramos lands a glancing blow to the side of Azhiev's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Azhiev has a takedown stuffed.
An attempted straight right counter from Ramos misses the target.

Some wild striking there from Ramos.
Azhiev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ramos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Azhiev somewhat.
Azhiev shoots in but no luck this time.

Ramos postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Azhiev to stand up.
Azhiev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ramos is fending him off so far but Azhiev persists. Nope, Ramos circles away and we're back to standing.

Azhiev tries for a takedown but Ramos circles away easily
and Ramos counters by moving into the clinch.
Ramos pushes Azhiev back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Azhiev is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ramos to keep the fight standing.
Azhiev jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ramos walks away with a smile on his face. Azhiev gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ramos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Azhiev's guard.
Azhiev is working an open guard so Ramos takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Azhiev needs to keep his hands up - Ramos had a free shot at his head there.
Ramos catches Azhiev with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Azhiev shoots and misses
and Ramos counters with a straight right hand.
Ramos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ramos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Azhiev takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Azhiev shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ramos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Azhiev is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ramos throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Azhiev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ramos is in Azhiev's guard.
Ramos controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ramos stands up and waves to Azhiev to follow him.
Ramos lands with an overhand left.
Azhiev takes one to the chin there.
Ramos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Azhiev sprawls well initially but Ramos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ramos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Azhiev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ramos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ramos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Azhiev defends it well.
Ramos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Azhiev seems to have recovered his senses.
Azhiev wants to improve his position but Ramos is controlling well.
Ramos has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Azhiev defend it? Ramos steps over the head and cranks it - Azhiev is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ramos!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Octavio Ramos!

In defeat, Anzhor Azhiev stepped up to the mic, saying 'I still want that title shot. Im the most experienced fighter here and everyday wants to see me smash the champ so lets do it whenever he starts ducking me.'.
