Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Osvaldo Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Osvaldo Palmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick James!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Palmer as James shoots in.
Palmer shoots in but James avoids the takedown attempt easily.
James shoots for a takedown but Palmer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Palmer wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Palmer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Palmer defends it nicely.
Osvaldo Palmer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derrick James.
James throws a right hand that Palmer ducks under and follows up with a left that Palmer also avoids with ease.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palmer tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palmer to the ground. Palmer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

James is concentrating on defense, preventing Palmer from advancing position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Palmer is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Palmer gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Palmer gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Palmer apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Palmer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Palmer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
