Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Cardenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Hate Me Now. Danny Cardenas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardenas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cardenas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Diaz is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Diaz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cardenas tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Cardenas has a good base and remains in mount.
Diaz tries to hold on but Cardenas pushes him away.
Diaz manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cardenas is working an open guard so Diaz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cardenas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Diaz misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Diaz stands up and beckons Cardenas to his feet.
Cardenas takes one to the side of the head.
Diaz wants to clinch up but Cardenas keeps it at a distance.
Diaz is looking to clinch but Cardenas is avoiding it.
Cardenas throws the left hand but Diaz avoids the punch easily.

Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cardenas counters with a shoot takedown. Diaz fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cardenas wants to stand but Diaz is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Diaz will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Diaz works Cardenas's body with a nice hook.
No joy there for Cardenas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cardenas looks to land a combination but Diaz avoids it well.

Diaz doesn't manage to clinch there - Cardenas circles away.
Diaz throws a nice looking combination but Cardenas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cardenas loads up on a big right hand but Diaz slips the punch.

and Diaz counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cardenas thinking.
Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Cardenas on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cardenas as he avoids it easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Cardenas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Diaz misses with a few strikes there.
Cardenas throws a combination that misses
and Diaz counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Diaz forces Cardenas back against the cage and clinches.
Diaz has Cardenas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cardenas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Diaz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch but Cardenas keeps him there for the moment.
Diaz can't break the clinch.
Cardenas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Diaz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Diaz misses with a double jab

and Cardenas counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cardenas is posturing up here but Diaz has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Cardenas tries to roll out but it's too tight and Cardenas has to tap! Slick submission there by Diaz!
