Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blair Melton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Poole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Poole!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poole is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Melton's half guard.
Poole performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Melton is looking for a sweep. Poole is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Melton slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Poole wants to control from the top but Melton keeps moving.

Poole avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Poole controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Melton is looking for a sweep. Poole is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Melton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Melton is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Poole jumps into side control!

Poole decides to stand back up. Poole steps back and let's Melton get back to his feet.

and Poole cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Poole changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Melton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Poole wants to lay and pray for a moment but Melton keeps working.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Melton tries to buck Poole off but Poole is having none of it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Melton connects with a nice short shot to Poole's temple.
Poole trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Melton manages to pass to mount!

Melton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Poole is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Poole is still trying to improve position.

Melton is trying to work for a kimura but Poole is defending well.

Poole has hold of Melton's hands but Melton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
It looks like Melton is going to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Melton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Poole with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Melton is trying to work for a kimura but Poole is defending well.
Melton working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Melton wants to sweep here but Poole controlling him for the moment.
Melton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Melton is on top in guard.


Poole had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Melton defends it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Blair Melton.
I think Melton has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
