Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emmitt Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pat Turner is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Emmitt Powell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pat Turner!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turner rushes Powell and presses him up against the cage.
Turner leaning against his opponent.
Powell really is a fat lump.

Turner drags the fight down to the ground.
Turner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Turner is looking to stand up but Powell isn't so interested in that idea.

Turner pushes Powell off and scrambles back to his feet.
Turner misses with a low kick.
Powell wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Turner misses with a leg kick

and Powell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Powell.
Powell postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Turner has control of Powell's left arm, preventing Powell from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powell working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Powell throws a strike but Turner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Turner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Turner landing some decent shots from guard.
Powell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Turner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Powell has momentary wrist control but Turner slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Turner is standing up over Powell. Powell looks to escape but Turner dives into side control.
Powell throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

You can see the frustration on Powell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Turner trying to control the position but Powell is working away.
Turner postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Powell tries to buck Turner off but Turner is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turner happy to just control the position for now.
Powell is pushing Turner's head away, looking to escape. Turner manages to hold on to the position though.
Turner fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Turner tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Turner controls the position.
Turner passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Powell!
Turner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Turner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Powell's face.

Powell is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Turner locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Powell is forced to tap!
