The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
machida tries to close the distance and clinch but shelley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

shelley feints and as machida raises his hands in defense, shelley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
machida throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
shelley tries to free his leg and advance position but machida is retaining full guard.
machida wants to stand but shelley is controlling the position.
machida looking to hit a scissor sweep but shelley is one step ahead there.
machida knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for shelley on the ground.

I looks like shelley might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
