Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lucas Maidana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mio Zioa!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zioa swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Maidana counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice cross by Maidana.
Zioa slips a jab from Maidana.
Zioa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Zioa lands with a shot to the body.
Maidana dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zioa. That did some damage!
Maidana tests Zioa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Maidana connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Zioa gets a double leg takedown into Maidana's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maidana looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Zioa has picked Maidana up and slammed him! Maidana can't keep hold of the triangle and Zioa manages to pass to side control!
Zioa is working to tighten his grip on Maidana's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maidana has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Zioa is really squeezing tight and eventually Maidana passes out! Zioa breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Mio Zioa!
