The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adi gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Adi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Messy manages to get himself to full guard.

Adi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Messy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Adi has Messy in his guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Messy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Adi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Messy frees his head nicely. Oh but Adi has switched to an armbar! Messy is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
