The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitehead tries for a takedown but Swinton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Whitehead shoots in for a double leg but Swinton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Swinton gets the takedown into side control.
Whitehead is looking to regain half guard here but Swinton keeps moving and retains side control.
Whitehead stops Swinton from passing to mount.

Swinton decides to stand back up. Swinton steps back and let's Whitehead get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Whitehead can't do much from the bottom here.
Whitehead is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Swinton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Whitehead is trying to control Swinton's posture but Swinton avoids it.
Whitehead really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Swinton laying and praying for a moment but Whitehead takes advantage and regains half guard.
Whitehead is trying is best to control the position here.
Whitehead's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Whitehead enables Swinton to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Whitehead manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Whitehead will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Whitehead is working an open guard so Swinton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Swinton takes the fight into the clinch.

Whitehead's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kiki Swinton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Swinton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whitehead is trying to control but can't.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Whitehead keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Swinton trying to advance position but Whitehead counters by regaining guard.

Whitehead shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Swinton as he jumps to the side.
No joy there for Whitehead, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Swinton throws a head kick but Whitehead moves out of range.

Swinton gets a double leg takedown into Whitehead's guard.
Whitehead wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Swinton manages to pass to side control.

Swinton is trying to work for a kimura but Whitehead is defending well.

Whitehead looking for submissions off his back.
Swinton uses his free foot to push down on Whitehead's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Whitehead.
Swinton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Whitehead wants to hold on but Swinton pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Swinton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Whitehead tries to reverse the position but Swinton maintains control.
Swinton scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Whitehead is rocked!

Swinton get's back to his feet.
Oh Whitehead is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Swinton lands a huge takedown. Whitehead is out but the ref is slow to react and Swinton lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Whitehead lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
