PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Al Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Strong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Can't be Touched. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Al Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Strong!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Strong counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Al Allen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Allen shoots in for a takedown but Strong shows good takedown defense.
Strong stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strong wants it to stay on the feet.

Strong tries to keep at a distance but Allen has taken the fight into the clinch.
Allen scores with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Allen wants to stand and escape but Strong is having none of it.
Allen managing to control the position.
Strong wants to control from the top but Allen keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strong wanted to stand there but Allen had control of the position.

Allen pushes Strong off and scrambles back to his feet.
Strong is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Allen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Strong avoids it really well and circles away.
Strong feints the counter takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Al Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Allen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Allen trying to control the position but Strong is working away.
Allen taking a breather here.

Allen decides to stand back up. Allen steps back and let's Strong get back to his feet.
Allen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Strong circles away.
Strong is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Allen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Strong is fending him off so far but Allen persists. Nope, Strong circles away and we're back to standing.
Strong tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Allen drives through and clinches with Strong against the cage.
Allen tries to pull guard but Strong won't allow it.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Allen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Strong, pushing him back against the cage.
Allen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Strong walks away with a smile on his face. Allen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Allen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Allen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Allen missing with knees to the body.

Allen manages to break the clinch.

Allen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Strong was covering up waiting for the punch and Allen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Strong has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Allen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Allen is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Strong wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Allen has him pressed against the cage.
Strong is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Allen decides to pull guard.

Allen pushes Strong off and scrambles back to his feet.

Allen closes the distance and clinches.
Allen manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Allen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Allen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Allen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Strong but Strong pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Allen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Strong sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Allen instigates a clinch.
Strong lands a nice uppercut.

Allen pulls guard.
Allen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strong trying to control but Allen is working from the bottom.
Allen controls Strong momentarily but Strong frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Allen is trying to stand and escape. In the scramble, Strong has locked hold of an arm and he's managed to lock on an armbar - Allen taps out instantly and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Lance Strong!
An out of breath Lance Strong thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Al Allen had this to say: 'Fuck yal all, I am still the best! My own mother said it, and I will say it too!'.
